Bbcw: Beatles Offspring Zak Starkey Keeping The Beat At Super Bowl …

As predicted The Who fell far short of their glory days gone by. The performance was in dire need of a wardrobe malfunction. Roger Daltry’s voice is nearly gone, and Pete Townsend doesn’t have the energy for his legendary stage antics. If it wasn’t for the amazing stage, I would have surfed for the channels for Celebrity Deathmatch or Beavis and Butthead reruns. I consider myself a Who fan. It was sad to say the least.

I am sure many people might be unaware that a legend’s son was keeping the beat on drums last night for The Who. It was Zak Starkey, Ringo Starr’s son on drums. Ringo was good friends with the original Who drummer Keith Moon, and Starkey took over the sticks a number of years ago. Clearly the drums are and always have been a strength in The Who’s music. I wouldn’t want to step into Keith Moon’s shoes, but I think Starkey does a great job of doing so.
